February is commonly the month that’s associated with Valentine’s Day and romance. However, love can come in many ways; it does not always have to be romantic like in the movies. I enjoy grabbing friends, going on road trips  or attending fun events on campus. Here are some of the events that are occurring this February!

Club Downunder hosts loads of fun events throughout the year. Last year I attended the Coin concert with a couple of friends, which was enjoyable. I recommend their events because they are usually easily accessible to all and free to FSU students. On Friday, Feb. 3, at 6 p.m., Club Down Under is hosting a “Sing Your Heart Out” at their location within the Student Union. It is an open microphone event where anyone can have the opportunity to perform! This could be fun if you have a friend who loves singing or just attending concerts for fun! RSVP before this event is required because there is a certain number of open slots for performance. Another event this club partnered with Print Club and Astrology Club to bring you is Love is in the Stars! This event is on Feb. 8 at the CDU location. Grab your pals to receive tarot card readings, origami, printmaking, and other fun activities. This can make a cute girls’ night activity with your loved ones!

Did you know that FSU has a movie theater? Well, now you know! This theater is accessible to any Florida State University student and provides free popcorn! The SLC Film Committee and Stitch Fashion and Design Club partnered to give the movie Phantom Thread. On brand with Stitch’s fashion roots, this movie is about a renowned dressmaker in 1950s London, England. Reynolds Woodcock, the dressmaker, meets Alma, a witty waitress. Will Alma and Reynolds work out? Additionally, from Feb. 10 to Feb. 11, the theater will be streaming Ready or Not, courtesy of the SLC Film Committee. If you are interested in action or thriller movies, this one’s for you. Ready or Not is about a newlywed bride who must survive a Russian roulette version of hide and seek. Will she survive? Stay tuned to find out! It is accessible to FSU students and can make for a cute friends’ date or group hang out.

Another fun activity I recommend this February is going to the FSU Rez! It is a lakefront park with outdoor volleyball courts, rock climbing, table tennis, canoeing and paddle boarding. It can be fun to go there for a hike with friends or for canoeing. Going outside and enjoying the nice weather can be a great way to unwind and catch up with people.

Another fun activity, if you are addicted to shopping like I am, is to attend Market Wednesdays. This market on campus is fun to stroll and look for unique small business products. There are always thrift vendors if you enjoy thrifting. This market is located on Legacy Walk and happens every Wednesday, if the weather permits, from noon to four. It is straightforward to access whether you live on or off campus.

February’s itinerary is partially planned, and more events are bound to pop up; I recommend checking Nole Central and on-campus organizations’ Instagram accounts for later events this month. I hope your February is filled with much love and happiness!
