Day in the Life as a Third-Year FSU Student

I consider Florida State my home for eight months out of the year. The weather is always lovely and I love how pretty the brick buildings look. Overall, the campus is such a happy place to be around. Walking around the beautiful campus the other day was when I thought, why not document what happens as an FSU student daily? I chose to write about my Tuesday because this week has been so hectic with studying, and that was the day I left my apartment because, let’s be honest, I can be a hermit.

Lately, I have been trying to get in the habit of waking up around 8 am; however, sometimes, One Direction’s “What Makes You Beautiful” ringtone gets snoozed. I will probably snooze my alarm around three times, leading me to wake up around 8:15 a.m. I will lay in bed and scroll through TikTok or Instagram for around 10 minutes. Then when I actually do decide to leave the bed, I immediately get into my morning routine to get ready for the day. I like making omelets and coffee for breakfast because it keeps me full until lunch and is healthier than my chocolate chip waffles. Unfortunately, on this Tuesday, I had to hustle to my sorority house to finish painting the letters. Once I finish eating, I drove to Traditions parking garage to circle for parking for approximately 30 minutes. It is literally heaven when I find parking there within 10 minutes!

I spent around three hours painting the giant Phi Mu letters in front of our house for events. We had an upcoming sisterhood event that needed notes on the lawn by Wednesday night. I then changed for the gym, chug pre-workout (which literally tastes awful) and walk to Leach. I am weird because I like to theme my workouts around playlists. This Tuesday, the Mamma Mia soundtrack and the StairMaster were calling my name. CHAW, the Center for Health and Wellness, was doing an event at the Leach, so I saw the cutest Great Dane therapy dog. I ate lunch around 1 pm because my class got canceled and I headed to Strozier Library to concentrate on homework. I don’t know about you, but I struggle with productivity in my apartments. It is impossible to get any assignment done; I always end up taking a nap.

The clock hit 4:30 pm which reminded me to drive back to my apartment and prepare for Phi Mu’s academic dinner and orchestra rehearsal. I showered, did my makeup and hair and wore a dress to make myself presentable. It was very different from my usual sweatpants, meaning I had to make myself look presentable and not half asleep. I again tried to find parking in the Phi Mu lot (which is very rare) and ran to the house for a yummy steak dinner. I could only eat dinner for around 35 minutes because rehearsal required me to be there a bit earlier. So I hustled to my car again and drove to the Opperman Music Hall, where I spent two and a half hours rehearsing with a full orchestra.

Once orchestra rehearsal is done, I could finally somewhat relax. I dropped off my violin at my apartment and went to a cafe in Railroad Square to catch up with friends. It was nice to just chill and gossip about our days. That was my entire day. Unfortunately, the week before Spring Break tends to be so busy, but I, alongside many other FSU students, am ready to start Spring Break!

A little about me: I love dogs, hanging out with friends and family, and I have a bad shopping addiction. I love painting in my free time as well as thrifting with friends. I am a third year student at FSU and I am majoring in Political Science. I hope to attend law school when I graduate.
