4 Websites to Help You Land Your Dream Magazine Internship

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FSU chapter.

We’re back with another themed week on the site: Career Week. This semester, Her Campus FSU has created themed weeks dedicated to exclusive content we believe all of our readers should have access to. Keep up on the site for the next few days as we cover everything from what NOT to put on your resume to a Q&A with an RMPD major currently interning at ELLE magazine in NYC. This week definitely won’t be filled with the cliché career advice you’re always hearing (take for instance there’s even a piece on how to deal with rejection). Don’t miss out!

If you’ve ever seen The Devil Wears Prada, you can’t help but admit to being a little jealous of Andy for landing the dream job at Runway magazine. But what you can’t deny, is the fact that Andy worked her butt off to make it to the top. This same mentality applies to the real world too, and a lot of college students are constantly seeking magazine internships in hopes to one-day land the job of their dreams.

The whole process of landing a killer internship can be nothing short of overwhelming. (Trust me, I feel your struggle). However, there are tons of great websites out there to help ease the process of finding a solid internship! So without further ado, here is our list of 4 great websites that will help you land the magazine internship of your dreams:

1. Ed2010

Ed2010 is a great place to go if you are seeking an editing or writing internship of any kind. You can easily post or search for jobs by simply typing in key words and locations to help you narrow down your search. Ed2010 is also great because the website offers mentoring programs, career advice, and even resume makeovers, which are certainly crucial to landing that perfect internship! Ed2010 has also created college chapters that specifically target towards currently enrolled students to help make the search process easier as well. Even better news is, Florida State has a chapter on campus! You can learn more about them through their Facebook page

2. Media Bistro

Mediabistro.com is another great tool for finding that great internship. It functions similarly to Ed2010.com in that you can use it as a job search engine. However, they also offer some pretty cool training courses to get you prepared for an internship as well. Some of their training topics range from public relations, to copywriting, to social media, and digital marketing. While the courses aren’t free, they would certainly be great things to build up your resume a bit!

3. Fashionista Careers

If you are particularly interested in working in the fashion/beauty industry, fashionista.com might be the best place to start. Essentially the website is almost like an online magazine in itself, but under their ‘career’ tab, the site is constantly publishing articles and links to different write-ups about in-demand internships all over the country that pertain to the high-fashion world. The whole website is a fashion-lovers dream in general, so if you are just interested in a good read about fashion news and more, check out the website because it is the place for you!

4. The EveryGirl

While The Every Girl isn’t exactly a place where you can search for internships, the site offers so much content with tips and tricks to land the perfect internship. Some of their most recent articles include “How to Build a Work Wardrobe on a Limited Budget,” “How to Stay Motivated in a Job You Don’t Love” to even some more creative articles like “5 Tips for Choosing a Work-Appropriate Perfume.” So basically this website lives up to the name because there is content for every girl. (P.S. If you are any bit obsessed with Pinterest like I am, make sure to follow The Every Girl’s boards because they are literally perf).

After using these helpful websites, you will for sure be on your way to landing that internship of a lifetime. Now here’s to hoping that your future boss is nothing like Miranda.
