Having returned back to campus in August, the school year is officially in full swing, and spooky season is quickly approaching. From being excited about the slightest dip in the temperature and cool breeze to the excitement of pumpkin spice finally being back in stock, the official return of the fall season brings some of my personal favorite fall-themed activities to do with my friends.
- Visit a Pumpkin Patch
-
One of the best ways to get into the spooky spirit is by visiting a pumpkin patch over these next few weeks. With October just around the corner, pumpkin patches are popping up all around towns. Pumpkin patches are typically local, with one being the Moccasin Grove Pumpkin Patch (a local family farm in Tallahassee), which is perfect to visit with friends this upcoming fall.
Whether you’re looking for a quick day trip for you and your friends to get out of your dorm or simply wanting to explore more, going to any of the local pumpkin patches is a great way to start. Most pumpkin patches are starting back up in October, and you don’t want to miss out!
- BJ’s Pizookie Night
-
Most students already know about BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse’s $5 Pizookies on Tuesdays. But if you don’t already know, they have a Halloween-themed pizookie that just returned. Personally, my friends and I love planning our weeks to meet up on Tuesday night at BJ’s to get a full-sized pizookie for five dollars.
With the restaurant’s seasonal re-release of the Spooky Pizookie, going to BJ’s with my friends this fall is always worth it to me, and I’m excited to go back.
- Fall-Themed Movie Night
-
If you’re looking to stay in for the night with your friends, another classic hangout I love to do around this time is a spooky season-themed movie night. Whether you head on over to your friend’s dorm, apartment, or visit the Askew Student Life Center (ASLC), a good movie night is one of my favorite hangouts to plan during the fall.
Some of my favorite movies to binge-watch with my friends during the fall are Coraline, Corpse Bride, Hocus Pocus, and Harry Potter.
- Host a Trader Joe’s Fall Dinner Night
-
Another hangout I can’t wait to do with my friends is a Trader Joe’s dinner party. Trader Joe’s has brought back all of their fall-themed foods, and I’m excited to try them all. From bakery items, candy, candles, baking mixes, and the return of some of my favorite fall items, there’s something for all your friends to try.
- Make Scrapbooks
-
I’m looking forward to having a scrapbook night with my friends. My friend group is very diverse, and we’re not in the same major at all, while having polar opposite class schedules.
We all love taking photos and preserving our memories together. From simply printing out photos together, creating a shared Pinterest board of cute icons we find online, and making a whole trip to Michaels for crafting supplies, a scrapbooking night is an event everyone can enjoy.
With exams coming up and everyone’s crazy schedules, a scrapbooking night is a great way to settle down, decompress, have fun, get crafty, and catch up this fall with your friends!
These are some of my favorite activities during the fall season. They can, of course, be combined, done solo, or done alone to make the most of this fall season!
