Sip Your Way Through February With the Frother’s Daughter Coffee Challenge

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FSU chapter.

Calling all coffee lovers! Everyone’s favorite coffee trailer in Tallahassee is back with an irresistible challenge for those who want something to swoon over during the month of love. From Feb. 1 through Feb. 29, The Frother’s Daughter is hosting their bi-annual Sips Challenge which only occurs twice a year: one in February and one in October. If you missed the October challenge, now’s your chance to redeem yourself by participating in this month’s Anniversary Frother’s Sips Challenge!

The rules are simple. In celebration of their third anniversary and Valentine’s Day, The Frother’s Daughter created a menu of six limited-edition drinks, each handcrafted with love by the small business’s baristas. Participants must collect a punch card from the trailer between Feb. 1 and Feb. 25, which is usually located right outside the Tri Delta sorority house on Park Avenue to opt in. Then, order all six special drinks to swap your punch card in for a free diner-themed anniversary t-shirt!

As someone successful at completing the October Spooky Sips Challenge, I was super stoked to try this month’s Frother’s specials in hopes of redeeming a free T-shirt once again. One thing that I loved about the challenge was that it was a great excuse to try every special drink since I never could make up my mind to choose one — that’s how good the drinks are! It’s perfect if you’re into sweet coffee with one-of-a-kind flavors.

The baristas got super creative in this month’s beverages, from berry-inspired flavor combos to drinks that transform your favorite desserts into caffeinated beverages. A week before the challenge began, The Frother’s Daughter’s Instagram slowly unveiled each drink’s photo and description.

It was difficult to choose which drink to start the challenge with, but based on the promotional photos, I chose to begin with “Roll With It:” a cinnamon roll-inspired cold brew topped with a fluffy whip and a cinnamon sugar caramel swirl. It checked off everything I crave in a sweet treat, so I had my high expectations. After trying it, I was amazed at how many flavors I could pick up, from the richness of the caramel to the spiciness of the cinnamon. I can’t wait to try the other five flavors and come up with my rankings!

If you’re new to The Frother’s Daughter, you’re in for an enjoyable caffeinated experience. I’ve recommended the coffee shop to every coffee-lover I know, and it still shocks me to find a few peers at FSU who’ve never given it a shot. But before you embark on your first visit or challenge, I have a few pro tips to share on how to make the most out of your experience.

The first tip is to make sure you line up at the right time. The Frother’s Daughter’s challenges spread around like wildfire, so expect the crowd to be large upon arrival. I recommend that you secure your spot in line at least 10 minutes before the trailer opens at 9 a.m. for the lowest wait time, or at periods when most people have class. Because of the extensive wait times, The Frother’s Daughter staff may end the line around half an hour before closing at 1 p.m., so keep that in mind.

Additionally, if you decide to opt in for the challenge, keep your punch card safe! Unfortunately, if you are halfway through the challenge and lose it, you will most likely have to collect a new punch card from a barista and start over. I highly recommend keeping it in your wallet or taking a photo of your punch card each time a qualifying drink is purchased. Once you start the challenge, there’s no going back until you earn that T-shirt.

Whether you’re searching for something adventurous to do at FSU, feeling up to the challenge, or you’re simply a proud coffee enthusiast like me, I hope to see you in line! Don’t forget to try all the flavors before it’s too late.

Hi!! My name is Amanda and I'm currently a sophomore at Florida State majoring in Marketing with a minor in Communication/Media Studies. This is my first year as a writer for Her Campus and I couldn't be more excited to be part of an amazing group of women! I have always had a deep passion for writing. In high school, I have written for Twice-Told Tale, a student-run publication, and By Any Other Name, a literary and art magazine that were both awarded 1st place by the American Scholastic Press Association. I served various positions in a span of four years, working up to Editor-in-Chief. Outside of Her Campus, I work as a Campus Rep for Greek House, a nationwide company that creates custom apparel for Greek organizations. I also am an active member of the Gamma Phi Beta sorority and currently serve as Assistant Public Relations Chair. In my free time, I love to shop online and enjoy capturing memories on my digital camera. I am also a huge coffee lover and have it almost every day. Before attending FSU, I was a competitive Irish dancer for 10 years!
