With summer starting in just a few weeks, it’s time to start planning how you’re going to make the most of it. Every summer, I like to make a bucket list of activities to do when I can’t seem to come up with something. Here are a few of my ideas that you can add to your list.

Take a beach trip.

Southern summers are hotter than ever, so take a trip to cool off. Grab some of your best friends and either stay local or travel to a beach you’ve never been to. There are more beaches in Florida than you can count!

Go on a picnic with your friends.

Put your charcuterie board skills to the test and organize a platter for you and your friends. You can go lay out a blanket in a park, snack to your heart’s desire and make some new memories. If you’re feeling bold, make some new friends and invite them to come hang with you.

Plan a trip to an amusement park.

What’s a summer without new thrills and adventures? If you live near an amusement park, grab your girl gang and go seek those adventures. Examples include Disney World, Busch Gardens, Six Flags and Holiday World.

Go pick fresh fruit right off the bush.

One of my favorite things to do in the early summer mornings is to drive to a strawberry patch and pick strawberries with my family. Going early keeps you cool and guarantees you’ll get some of the best picks of the day. The early bird gets the worm! As a bonus, you get quality time with the fam and a tasty treat. Score!

Make some artwork.

YouTube and Pinterest are full of new DIYs to try. I suggest trying tie-dye, marble painting, pottery and clothing upcycles. You might be met with some epic fails, but you may also end up with some awesome works of art that are college apartment worthy.

Host a bonfire.

If you have a big enough backyard, invite your friends over and build a bonfire. You can roast hot dogs and marshmallows. Be sure to include funny and scary stories throughout the night.

Visit Mystic Falls in Covington, Georgia.

This one is my all-time favorite. If you loved The Vampire Diaries as much as I did, why not get the whole experience? The town looks exactly the same as it did in the show, and you can even stop by the Mystic Grill to snack on a bag of “blood.”

Get a new tattoo.

Nothing brings excitement like a fresh tattoo. If you aren’t ready for that type of commitment, you can always go crazy with temporary tattoos as an alternative.

Start a book you’ve been dying to read.

Summer weather can be unpredictable and usually includes rainy days. On those days where you can’t step out in the sun, cozy up in your room and start a new book. Some books I want to read this summer are Untamed by Glennon Doyle, In Five Years by Rebecca Serle and They Both Die at the End by Adam Silvera.

Go on a hike.

The exercise will make you feel better, I promise. Go somewhere that has views you’ve only seen in photographs. While you’re there, take some aesthetic photos for your social media. Don’t forget to take in the moment and embrace everything our Earth has to offer.
