Right Guy, Wrong Time? Not Really

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FIU chapter.

Have you ever seen a video, heard a song or read a quote that changes the way you think about something? Well that happened to me after I saw a video about relationships and time. I used to think that most of my relationships didn’t work out because of timing. Maybe I wasn’t ready to get into serious relationship or maybe he wasn’t ready and I would automatically call that “just bad timing”. We’re always looking for someone or something to blame for the unexpected and unwanted stuff that happens in our life. Well, I was blaming a clock for my relationship issues. Sounds pathetic right?

But I know I’m not the only one. There are many hopeless romantic scenarios were we end up thinking that time is the culprit. For example, you meet someone you have a great connection with but they are already in a relationship with someone else; or you date someone amazing for a month but they are moving to another country; or even when you meet the “love of your life” but one of you breaks it off because your life is too crazy to handle a relationship.

Have you ever thought about how it might not be the timing that is wrong, but the person you are with? The video called “The Truth About Meeting Someone At The Wrong Time” by Sarah Snow is a mind blowing video. It talks about how the person who is right for you doesn’t think about anything else going on in his/her life, only thinks about wanting to have you in theirs. If someone wants to be with you, that person will make time for you. The right person won’t make up an excuse about the “timing being wrong” because that person won’t see you as just an appointment to fit into their busy schedule, but as his partner in crime, his ride or die, his best friend.

The video is not saying that the right person will bow down to your command and give up their whole life for you. It’s saying that the right person will join you in your life adventures and  would want you to join him or her in theirs. It’s about finding a balance with each other. You create a life were you both contribute to each other’s happiness without losing yourself in the process.

My favorite quote of the video is, “Because when someone is right for us, we make the time to let them into our lives and that kind of timing is always right.”

Other than the timing video, Sarah Snow has many other videos about life that a lot of us can relate to. She has inspiring videos about the lack of a good morning text (which I know many of us get sad when we don’t receive one) and one of chasing your dreams when you think is too late to do so. Even if you think you have your life all figure out, go and watch them. You might learn something new from someone else’s perspective.
