Changes Coming to Walt Disney World

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FIU chapter.

Dear Disney fans, buckle your seatbelt because this article is for you! Growing up, Disney has always been a home away from home. At most, I’d visit 3 times a year and every time still felt as magical as the first. If you’re anything like me, then you might already know where to go, what to do, what to eat and who to see. Well, things are changing around Walt Disney World and I’m here to keep all you Mouseketears updated!

Starting with Epcot, there will be a permanent closure on the Universe of Energy – Ellen’s Energy Adventure. While the Universe of Energy might have been a fun, informative, passing the time ride, it has been around too long and is outdated. The ride closed early August and replacing it will be – drum roll please – Guardians of the Galaxy. No word on what the ride is going to be like, but anything involving Groot is a 10/10 right?

While there aren’t any main attractions being permanently closed at the Magic Kingdom, that doesn’t mean there aren’t any temporary closures. Some of these closures include: The Monorail, Hall of Presidents, Splash Mountain and Cinderella’s Royal Table. All these attractions vary in dates, but expect all attractions to be up and running by Spring of 2018.

As for Hollywood Studios, we have a lot of major changes coming our way! For starters, we have the Great Movie Ride which was permanently closed on 8/13/2017 and will be replaced with Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway. A few other permanently closed attractions include Lights, Motors, Action, Honey, I Shrunk the Kids Movie set, and a bunch of meet and greets. One of the main changes coming to Hollywood Studios is Toy Story Land! Word has it that the Slinky Dog rollercoaster is almost ready, you can check that video out here.
