The Campus Resource You Should Keep Tabs On

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FIU chapter.

Not many of us are familiar with the resources around our campus. Some of us aren’t even aware of where the campus tutoring is located. One campus resource you should pass by and keep an eye on is FIU’s Women’s Center.

The Women Center partners with other campus departments to help students reach their professional, intellectual and personal growth. They also have various events and programs to help the female population on campus.

One of their main events called Women Who Lead is coming up this month. Women Who Lead is a day-long conference that promotes leadership development for FIU’s female students. The conference includes panel discussions with successful women in various fields, networking, breakfast and lunch. Best of all its free.

This year’s Women Who Lead will be hosted on both campuses the main campus date will be Tuesday March 26, 2019 from 8:00am till 3:00pm in GC Ballrooms. In the BBC Campus it will be on March 27, 2019 from 9:30am till 3:00pm in WUC Ballrooms.

FIU’s Women’s Center also hosts Sisterhood Retreats designed to help with self-exploration, empowerment and bonding. Their retreats are usually a weekend long and include diverse activities to self-reflect and develop yourself as a leader. This year’s retreat has not been posted but it is in the works. For more information you can always email women@fiu.edu to join the journey of your own self-empowerment.

No matter where we are in our goals it’s important to keep ourselves motivated and empowered.
