One of the main attractions for many students who are studying abroad in Europe is how easy it is to jet off to another country for a quick three-day break. However, packing for these short trips can be excruciatingly difficult. If you’re like me, you’re likely to be the type of girl to pack that extra outfit “just in case.” While normally, one extra outfit doesn’t take up much space, weekend trips are different. You’re likely travelling with just a North Face backpack. That being said, these trips are NOT the time or place to be planning 5 different outfits to get you through the day.
As it is getting cooler, here are some of the fall basics you’ll likely need for your weekend trip in Europe:
1) A pair of comfortable walking shoes – Many European streets are cobblestone, making it exceptionally important to choose sensible footwear when sightseeing.
2) A pair of jeans
3) A pair of leggings
4) A sweatshirt – It could get very chilly at night!
5) One set of pajamas – It’s only 2-3 nights, re-wear those PJs to save some space
6) One pair of shoes for going out – Choose a pair of black or nude shoes that can go with different outfits and be aware of wher you will be walking…if it’s cobblestones heels are not your friend!
7) EXACTLY how many tops and/or dresses you need for daily use and to wear out at night – This is not the time to pack 5 black tank tops when you’ll only wear 1 or 2.
8) A neutral scarf and jacket to wear when it gets breezy
Plan your outfits before you go so you know exactly what you’ll be wearing each day and night to avoid over-packing. Happy travels!
