It’s got to that stage in the term, when the work is piling up and stress is starting to hit in. Here at HCX we have found the best spot to relax and chill out at the Magdalen Chapter Spa Day. It was extremely good value for the amount we received and the perfect afternoon treat. Last weekend we went to go check it out and here’s what HCX have to say about it…

Included in the Magdalen Spa Day is a 30-minute treatment of your choice, afternoon tea (or a 2-course lunch), use of the Spa facilities and then tea and cake to finish. We opted to start at the gym before indulging in what turned out to be a very filling afternoon tea. The gym at the Magdalen Chapter isn’t huge, but it was equipped enough for a good run on the treadmill and cycle on the bike followed by a few weights.

We then went for afternoon tea in the Lounge. The Lounge was super cosy with huge chairs and a trendy fire. When you book your spa day, you book a time for your tea so there is a reserved table for you (very lucky considering how busy it is there!). Once we had sat down I had an earl grey tea before our delicious selection of sandwiches, scones and cakes arrived. They were extremely generous and it could have very easily fed four of us! My favourite were the scones and smoked salmon sandwiches – definitely a luxury from my usual Uni meals!

After our afternoon tea we headed to the pool. The pool at the Magdalen Chapter is amazing, it is mostly an outdoor (heated) pool, but you can swim through a passageway to what they call the ‘Fire room’. In this part of the pool there are Jacuzzi style jets and a fire to keep the room warm! It was such a nice treat to go into the fire room after having a swim in the outdoor part of the pool.

Next, was the most important part of the Spa Day – the treatments! I went for an incredible neck, arm and back massage! This was the perfect way to relax and made me totally switch off. If you go I definitely recommend the massage, I could have stayed there forever! My sister went for the facial, which she also enjoyed and left her skin feeling super soft!

At the end of our Spa Day we both felt totally switched off and was such a nice way to spend some time together and catch up on all the girlie gossip! We had to leave without trying the tea and cake, which we could have had to finish, but we were both so full we thought it was best not to overdo it! I would definitely recommend a trip down to the Spa, whether its for a friends birthday or just to take some time out and chill, or maybe even as a Valentine’s Day treat!
