This week HCX was lucky enough to catch up with the fabulous Sarah White; next year’s HCX Fashion and Beauty Editor.  Stylish, sassy and chic, Sarah knows how to rock any look – having the ability to make even tracky bottoms and an old vest look like Chanel’s latest runway look. We caught up with Sarah to try and steal some of her style, find out who her fashion icons are, and get a sneak peak of some of her plans for next year…

So firstly we just wanted to say a massive congratulations on being elected as next year’s Fashion and Beauty Editor! We just know you’re going to do an amazing job! As a current writer for the fashion and beauty section of HCX, we just wanted to know what first got you enthused about Her Campus?

I wanted to start writing articles about things that I was interested in but I was always too scared! Then I saw the Her Campus stand at the freshers fayre and realised it was perfect for me as I love girl power and also wanted to combine my love for writing and fashion!

Woo! Well we are definitely all about the girl power here at HCX! What got you specifically into writing for the fashion and beauty section? Has it been something you’ve always been interested in?

Yeah I’ve always enjoyed fashion and beauty, but I think it was bloggers and YouTube that made me really get into it.

We hear you. Zoella has our hearts. Speaking of, do you have any particular fashion icons?

Alexa Chung, she’s my queen. But I mainly like to get inspiration from bloggers and people I see in real life!

Alexa Chung is pretty fabulous it’s true! We wish we had her style (and yours)! What’s your go to look at the minute then?

At the moment I’m loving wearing pinafores, they’re so cute. I also have a gorgeous pink trench coat from Topshop that I literally cannot take off

Ooooo sounds cute, we may have to make a trip to Topshop… and while we’re talking about brands, do you have any favourites?

Topshop, Urban Outfitters and Zara are my favourite for clothes, and make up wise I use a lot of Bourjois, Nars and MAC!

We can defintely agree on all of those! Looking at your role in HCX, what’s been your favourite article to write so far?

Definitely the article I wrote about being a shopaholic in Exeter. It’s a genuine problem for me haha.

We loved that one; and could so relate! The struggle is real, we all feel your pain haha. Finally one last question then; do you have any plans or ideas for next year as Fashion and Beauty Editor?

I’m so excited to be fashion and beauty editor. I think I mainly just want to make sure the section remains as fab as it already is! But I do think it would be fun to do a monthly article on what we’ve been loving that month – whether that be certain items of clothing, new beauty products or celebrity looks!

That sounds amazing to us, and we just know you’re going to be a fabulous editor! Miranda Priestly eat your heart out…
