Beauty subscription boxes are fantastic for several reasons. They let you try out new products, get personalized suggestions for products by beauty experts, and most only cost around $10/month! Currently, I’m subscribed to both Ipsy and Sephora Play; I’ve been subscribed to Ipsy for almost two years, and Sephora Play for around 8 months. If you’re debating about trying a beauty subscription box, and you’re not sure which one is best for you, this guide was created to help you out.

1. If you love trying new fragrances…

Go with Sephora Play. In addition to your 5 makeup and skincare products each month, Sephora Play also includes a fragrance bonus. I’ve definitely found a few new favorites this way!

2. If you want bigger sample sizes and sometimes full-size products…

Choose Ipsy. Ipsy always includes at least one full-size product each month, and also, consistently gives larger sample sizes of their products than Sephora Play.

3. If you mostly want products from well-known, highly popular brands (e.g. Too Faced, Tarte, Clinique)…

Consider Sephora Play. They always select products directly from their shelves, so most of the companies are ones most everyone is very familiar with.

4. If you are interested in trying out new or indie brands…

Go for Ipsy. Their boxes are always a mixture of products from both some familiar and some new companies.

If you’re still unsure, one of the great things about these subscription boxes is that they’re only $10/month. Try one box one month and another the next, and then subscribe to your favorite!
