Staying Stylish when the Temperatures Drop

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Emory chapter.

Spring and summer are the easy months to show off your preppy, sophisticated style, but what about when the temperature drops a little and your silk tops and sun dresses are a little too chilly? What about those days when the wind bites and your Jack Rogger sandals don’t keep your frozen toes from the nippy chills?

Her Campus Emory has got you covered!

First. Plaid. Plaid. Plaid.

Whether you want to rock the fun plaid school girl skirts or the simple scarf, plaid is HUGE this year! It won’t let you down on the style charts. You can dress up your fitted plaid flannel, or throw a plaid scarf on with a button down and a vest!

Chunky Jewelry. The Bigger The Better (right girls?).

That may or may not be true for other things in life, but for jewelry this season, better advice could not be given! This chunky watch or a chain necklace are the perfect fall accessories to dress up the simplest of outfits!!!

Vests!

The hands down easiest piece of clothing you will ever own! Wear it with your sweatshirts and leggings for those mornings when the alarm clock comes too early, or pair it with your button downs and skinnies! Vests are warm without the hassle of sleeves, and so perfectly stylish!!!

Finally, for the mornings when getting dressed to the nines just isn’t going to happen, no matter how much you tried to lay out clothes and shower the night before….

Sweatshirts!

No, I’m not talking about your oversized high school track hoodie or your ex boyfriend’s old sweatshirt you just can’t part with. I’m talking about your preppy pullovers. You can bask in their comfort and still look like a stylish human being!
