The Second Semester Slump, as told by Britney

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Emory chapter.

Second semester goes by way faster than you’d think. And, with another semester comes yet another slump. Everyone goes through the slumps, but, somehow, we still manage to pass up nights at the library with our beloved biology textbooks for nights spent doing more exciting things. As the weather gets warmer and summer looms around the corner, it’s usually hard to remain focused on work and classes. Whether you’re going through it as we speak or trying your hardest to avoid it, who better to help rehash those second semester-slumpy feelings than Britney?

1.  You continually complain about the amount of work you have to do to all of your friends. They try and convince you that you can pull through and finish all of your work.

2. But, deep down you know it was a bad idea going to those darties and leaving your work for the last minute again.

3.  So, you try and try again to get yourself to the library:

4.  But, all of those darty snapchats have you feeling some type of way….

5.  Your friends keep reminding you and reminding you about your exams coming up, but you’re like:

6.  And, after convincing them, as well as yourself, that you’ll get some studying in before you head to Mags, you realize:

7. Finally, handing that huge paper in feels a lot like this:

8. And, after a few all nighters in the library to cram for those exams, you’re feeling a bit like this:

9. You’ve probably made it through the rough patch by convincing yourself that college is more than grades.

10. Miraculously, you’ve somehow done well enough to get an A.

There you have it. Who could have said it better than Ms. Spears? In all seriousness, try your best to remain an active participant academically throughout second semester! It’s true that there’s a lot going on, and it’s arguably the “better semester” of the two. But, it’s important to remain as focused and as driven (if not more) than you were a mere three months back. Then again, a little party never killed nobody. Good luck!

I like music more than i like most people, I'd take death over decaf any day and I'm currently suffering from chronic resting b*tch face. Oh, and I'm probably the one in black.
