Leather is certainly not a new trend, but the fall 2013 season has proven that it has once again kept its place as a staple material for the fall and winter. This season there are so many fun, new ways to wear leather. From thigh-high boots to traditional black leather jackets, the way to stay trendy and cozy this fall is to invest in a leather item.

Leather Skirts:

A leather skirt is perfect for warm fall nights when it’s still a little too hot for pants. Leather skirts can be worn for a night out on the town or just to edge up your everyday style while running errands or even heading to class.

Leather Pants:

Leather Pants are a crucial item to have for cooler fall nights. Try pairing these pants with black booties, combat boots or black or colored heels with either a funky bright top or a black flowy one. Leather pants can be dressed up with a printed blouse or a one-shoulder contrast tank to go for a classy, sophisticated look. You can also try wearing leather pants with a denim shirt or plaid tunic for a casual edgy look (see examples in this week’s Campus Style Blog article about chambray!).

Leather Jackets:

The leather jacket is a wardrobe essential that instantly adds a cool edge to any outfit. Whether you wear it with simple blue jeans and a white T-shirt or a fancy cocktail dress, it dresses up or down any outfit. You can wear it in classic black, dark brown or even flashy red. It goes well with many different materials, from plain cotton to silk to wool. A good leather jacket is truly a fashion staple that every woman should have in her closet because it will never go out of style.

While many people save leather for cooler months, the spring runways often showcase an abundance of leather offerings ranging from jackets to skirts. Whether you opt for a classic biker jacket or color-blocked leather T-shirt, these leather pieces will keep you on trend and beat off the fall chills.
