How to Perfect Your Brows in 3 Easy Steps

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Emory chapter.

Eyebrow shaping can be a very tricky endeavor. Not only have trends changed in the past decade, but the shape of your eyebrows can entirely alter your entire look. You should focus on crafting luxurious and groomed arches (à la Cara Delevingne and Lily Collins). Full eyebrows can look very beautiful and exotic so long as they are properly groomed. However, we are not all blessed with thick eyebrows. In that case, getting the right shape is really important. You can always use makeup to fill gaps and add depth to your eyebrows. Follow these easy steps to get perfect, full brows.

Step 1, Tweezing: Before you start using tweezers, you should have a good idea of what your brow shape is going to look like. The front of the brow should ideally align with the upper bridge of your nose.

Step 2, Fill-In: In order to prevent over tweezing your eyebrows, fill in the brows. You can use a brow pencil at a perpendicular angle for the front of the eyebrow, which is usually the widest part. Then, turn the pencil sideways for a thinner line at the end. The arch should be positioned three quarters of the way back form the nose bridge. From that point on, the end should fall off and follow the angle of the eye.

Step 3, Groom: Once you have done that, you can use a spoolie brush to lift hairs up and add volume. You can then tweeze the stray hairs. Unless you are a professional, you should only tweeze below the brow. You should really focus on filling the bottom portion of the brow. Trimming should not be an option wince feathery eyebrows are very full and beautiful.

Remember that well-groomed brows are the key to a flawless beauty look. If you end up using a brow liner, go for a slightly lighter shade than the natural color of your brows. This adds shadow and depth. Once you have your final look, you should set everything with a clear gel.
