How to Look Cute When It’s Cold

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Emory chapter.

You’re just beginning the wonderful journey of putting on your makeup and picking an outfit for the night when you realize: it’s cold outside. Panic instantly sets in. What do you wear?!

Fear not, ladies of the night! Consider this article your guide to perfecting that sexy snow bunny look (slightly reminiscent of Kate Upton’s breakout Sports Illustrated Cover, just less slutty) because who wants to go out looking like the Michelin Man? Don’t be afraid to put on a pair of pants, particularly for those nights when you have to make the trek from Harris to Frat Row and don’t want to get frostbite from the harsh Atlanta chill. If you can wear pants and be sexy, you’re golden. Or if you’re brave (or from anywhere but Florida) and can wear shorts in the cold, more power to you.

One of the best ways to compensate for the, well, pantsyness of pants is to slap on your favorite crop top and that’s obvious. And while you’re at it, if you’re going to be wearing shorts you’ll probably have on a crop top as well. But these midriff revealing outfit staples we girls so love are not the warmest of apparel. Now, the problem with this drop-dead-gorg combo is that, if you only wear a crop top out you will definitely get frostbite. So, here’s your solution: cardigans.

Now, I know what you’re thinking. Cardigans are for church or temple. And yes, in some way, you are correct, BUT if used simply for walking to and from frat row or for the cab ride to Maggies’s, cardigans are the perfect solution. They’re snug enough to keep you warm, light enough to carry and you make them play up your outfit in the most fashionable of ways. So, next time you’re online shopping, don’t skip over that comfy looking cardigan, because you may need it when you’re waiting for a cab at the end of the night.
