As fall approaches we find ourselves swapping our sandals for booties, trading our iced coffees for pumpkin spice lattes, and replacing our tanks with knit sweaters.  This fall, you’ll also want to trade your favorite summer lip colors for something a bit more bold and daring: a berry lip.  The rich, dark color may seem daunting at first, but once you try it you’ll be wearing the color all the way into the spring. The key to getting away with a bold shade is to find the right hue for your skin tone. There are so many different variations of the berry shade so this guide is here to help you!

Fair Skin: Try MAC’s Rebel lipstick.  The plummy-red color is a great option for light skin.  If you’re feeling a bit intimidated by the opaque color, you could try it in the lip-gloss form.

Medium Skin: A rich cranberry color is a great shade for medium complexions.  Try Flame by NARS.

Dark Skin: Make Up For Ever #49 Rouge Artist Lipstick, a blue-tinted berry colored lipstick, is perfect if you have a dark complexion.

Since the berry lip will be the focal point of your look, you’ll want to keep the rest of your makeup simple.  Try a natural, rosy toned blush.  To make your lipstick last all day, try dusting your favorite translucent setting powder over your lips!
