‘Tis the season for dry skin.  With temperatures dropping below freezing all across the country, it’s more important than ever to keep your skin hydrated.  You’ll be saying goodbye to flaky skin with these products.

Body Scrub

A body scrub is essential to slough away dead skin.  Concentrate on your legs, arms, and even your lips. For a DIY body scrub all you’ll need is ½ cup coconut oil, ½ cup brown sugar, and ½ teaspoon vanilla.

Body Oil

Move over body lotions, it’s all about body oil during the winter months.  This is because body oil is an occlusive agent, which means it creates a physical barrier over the skin to prevent water loss.  Body oils work best when applied to wet skin, so slather some on right after a shower.

Face Crème

Flaky skin is no fun so it’s important to scrub it off and then keep your skin well hydrated.  Because of their thick consistency, some body lotions actually work wonders as face crèmes in the winter.  Concentrate the crème around the under eyes, where the skin is most prone to drying out.

Cotton Gloves

Banish cracked hands and say hello to soft, supple hands with a few easy steps.  Before you go to sleep, apply body oil to your hands and then put on a pair of 100% cotton gloves. Your body’s temperature, which increases as you sleep, allows the oil to better soak in.  The cotton gloves help to lock in the moisture.
