Dooley as the Romans Do…in Fashion!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Emory chapter.

Dooley’s Week is just around the corner, and with a theme like “Dooley as the Romans Do,” you have the opportunity to shake out your gladiator sandals and whip up a super easy new dress for the Ball…or should I say toga? Here are some quick fashion tips to get you ready to welcome the biggest spirit week of the year, Roman-style!

Don’t have a toga? Don’t worry, this is one of the simplest looks you will ever wear! All you need is a bed sheet and a belt! Take a look at the Student Programming Council’s instructional video for the basics on how to wrap yourself up in a toga and be ready for the giant toga party at Dooley’s Ball ft. 3Lau!

Accessorize your toga with a belt around your waist, to keep the fabric more securely in place, and maybe a brooch on the shoulder. You can also add a bracelet to complete your outfit!

Grab yourself a laurel wreath to accessorize your hair as the Romans would! You can find them at Claire’s or Accessorize, but during Wonderful Wednesday this week, you can also make your own to wear! There will be a laurel-making station with professionals teaching you the art of creating these fun headpieces out of grape leaf vines. You can wear them with your hair up or down, as well. Laurel wreaths are pretty and fun, and definitely very Roman!

That season of summer gladiator sandals is coming back early this year! Just like the Romans, you can don your strappy sandals and toga, complete with a laurel wreath for a totally Roman outfit for Dooley’s Week. You can go fancy or simple, bronze or gold, strappy or lace up, and you’ve still got the perfect outfit for the week. Any type of shoe will match and really complete your Roman-esque outfit for the week’s upcoming festivities!
