Closet Cleanout: From Clean to New Jeans

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Emory chapter.

Ah, the change of seasons. That means a whole new color palette, a whole new set of prints and textures, and unfortunately–the dreaded task of reorganizing your closet.

If you’re like me and live in an apartment or dorm room that just doesn’t seem to have enough space for all of your things, and you’ve resorted to storing things in tubs, under your bed, maybe under your roommate’s bed, or in your storage closet, I feel your pain. Hopefully now that midterms are coming to a close, you can find time to pull those tubs down from their precarious perch on top of a wire shelf in your closet, or get those storage bags out from underneath your bed (or your roommate’s) and start sorting. The best way to start is to simply pull out the summer things that you know you can’t wear for a while, and exchange those for a few of your favorite fall pieces.

And here’s the good news: once you exchange all of your Levi cutoffs and hot pants for comfy denim (and let’s not forget the glory of a pair of soft black leggings), you can finally make way for those one or two things you’ve been dying to go shopping for as fall began to approach.

I asked a few girls across campus what items they wanted to add to their fall/winter wardrobe this year… Because a closet cleanout doesn’t have to just be about bidding a sorrowful farewell to crocheted summer tops that still have a hint of spilled strawberry daiquiri, it can be about making way for something you wish you had more room for. The most common response I got? New jeans.

It’s no surprise that many Emory girls are looking to find one or two new pairs of jeans! Jeans are the easiest thing to throw on in the morning to go to class, and also the easiest thing to wear into the night with a pair of heels and a cute top (though it may be a little chilly for the daiquiri…so you may have to try something else).

I took some time to research some of the best pairs from a couple of different price ranges. Whether you want to pay big dinero or small change, you can find a pair that’s right for you. Happy cleaning and even happier shopping!
