Whether you’re up late studying, still starving after a meal at the DUC, or just want a reason to procrastinate, a college kid needs to have snacks in her room. Having some things to munch on can be really helpful when you need an extra boost of energy to get you through your homework or when you are legitimately hungry. But when chips, cookies, and M&Ms become your snacking staples, it can turn into a diet disaster.
Here are 12 ideas for dorm room snacks that are easy to get and won’t cause you to gain the dreaded freshman 15.
- Frozen Grapes–they actually taste like ice cream!
- Frozen Bananas
- Carrots dipped in hummus or some light Italian dressing from Cox or the Duc
- Low-fat yogurt cup with a small topping of almonds and berries or chocolate/rainbow sprinkles–a great way to get your chocolate fix in a small dose
- Dried Mango/ Apples (Starbucks and Cox have great proportioned packs)
- Edamame (cold or microwaved)–you can add soy sauce for added flavor!
- Put together your favorite salad toppings at Cox without dressing
- 100-calorie nut packs (flavored ones are the best)
- Raisins, or better yet, golden raisins
- 100 Calorie chocolate covered pretzel packs
- Get your favorite light Starbucks drink and put it in your fridge to have if you’re having a late study night
- Peanut Butter pack from the Duc with an apple
Hope you’re hungry!
