You’ve probably heard that Madison Beer dropped her debut album Life Support on February 26. If not, please go take a listen—it is absolutely incredible with amazing transitions from song to song. She had it ready to be released for a while now, but only put it out recently due to covid, so that makes it even more special and exciting to hear. I have not been able to stop listening to it since it came out and I wanted to share with you my personal top 5 songs that I truly cannot get enough of.

5. Everything Happens For A Reason

The vocals on this song are phenomenal. It sounds like a Disney-esque song with the music and her vocals, but once you hear the lyrics you hear how raw and sad the song is, especially the intro and outro saying “I still love you” makes it hit even harder. It makes you feel like you’re about to float out of body to enjoy everything she is singing about. Whenever it comes on, I just want to get up and twirl in a ball gown in a dim lit kitchen

Favorite Lyric:

“I used to believe / that everything happens for a reason / but I still can’t find a reason / you’d wanna hurt me so bad”

“Can’t get no relief / time moves on with the seasons”

4. Blue

I am such a massive fan of colors being used as symbolism and right off the bat with the first few lines and even the title they are used in such a beautiful way. It brings you through her entire journey of being with someone and knowing when it is time to let go. You can feel the emotion of this song throughout the entire time and everyone needs to learn the lesson of knowing when it is time to let go and feel release. The similes and metaphors throughout this song bring it all together into one beautiful and incredible narrative.

Favorite Lyric:

“I know when to run, run, run / when my makeup does”

“We were like a gorgeous bed of roses / ready to die any minute / gettin’ rid of you might be the best thing I ever did”

3. Follow The White Rabbit

This song is such a trip to listen to with its incorporations of literature and movies with the white rabbit. It is a song that makes me want to go and be in a kick-ass scenario where I am so beyond powerful. She mentioned in an interview that the lyrics are random, but are fun and there is no better way to explain it. They are random but make so much sense and correlate so well with the theme of this song.

Favorite Lyric:

“Devil in a dress, I’ma love you like I do / follow the white rabbit to see the truth”

“I heard my name’s on the tip of your tongue / and I’m empty too if that is what you want”

2. Stay Numb And Carry On

She is such a powerhouse in this song and her beautiful lyricism shines so bright throughout the whole thing. She has a theme of making the most tragic lyrics go along with a more upbeat song that makes you feel and understand everything that she is singing and relate it back to your own life. It isn’t just talking about a relationship ending but also about herself and her own mental state that she lives in and how this has impacted it.

Favorite Lyric:

“I was gin and you were toxic / we have nothing good in common”

“Stay numb and carry on / too young to hate someone”

Before we get to my top song on this album I wanted to throw some honorable mentions in here because making this list was truly so difficult.

  • BOYSHIT

Favorite Lyric:

“You might have a way with words but I’m a woman”

“If you don’t level up, I’m, leavin’ you in the dust / so I’m movin’ on until you start tryna act your age”

  • Interlude

Favorite Lyric:

“Baby, I just wanna be someone / but I don’t wanna just be someone to you”

“It’s like your heart’s in this constant eclipse / you can’t decide, I don’t got time for this”

  • Selfish

Favorite Lyric:

“All you ever wanna do is lie / why you always such a Gemini?”

“I don’t wanna break your thread and needle / tryna stitch you, but I can’t, I refuse”

1. Homesick

This song was the best song to follow the interlude it takes you on a journey back to the home planet in space. It is such a beautiful song that just puts going back home and craving being there when being on earth doesn’t seem right. Whenever it comes on I just want to put on my star projector and float away into the universe. It is so beautiful and if you close your eyes when it plays a cinematic movie will be playing in your mind.

Favorite Lyric:

“‘Cause I belong in space, floatin’ with debris”

“Countin’ the stars, they all felt so far / but it’s always felt like home to me”

I highly suggest listening to this album. It is a lyrical masterpiece and her voice is so soothing to listen to. My suggestion is to listen full through front to back to get the initial experience that she intended when she created it. It is a perfect mix of hot girl songs mixed with sad girl songs and for any emotion or situation you can guarantee that you will find something that fits that exact moment.
