Meet ECHabitat for Humanity team member Kylie Scott!
Class Year: 2018
Major: Communications
Her Campus at Emmanuel: What made you choose to join EC Habitat?
Kylie Scott: I love what EC Habitat stands for, and I love being able to give back to people in such an active way.
HCE: What does it mean to you to know that you are making a difference in someone’s life?
KS: Sometimes on builds, you get to work with or meet the family who is getting the house. Those times are really special because they make what we do so much more personal.
HCE: What is your favorite thing to do (or what you hope to do) on the build?
KS: My favorite thing about builds is being able to get to know people and build camaraderie across Emmanuel through service.
HCE: Favorite memory with EC Habitat?
KS: My favorite memory was being taught how to use a nail gun on my first build. It was empowering to realize that I actually was capable of doing things like construction.
HCE: What is a mantra or quote that you live by?
KS: It’s from this poem “The Old Astronomer to his Pupil”:“I have loved stars too fondly to be fearful of the night.”
