Emerson has always been a chapter that liked to take risks, so emailing the chapter network to spotlight different Her Campus Chapters at other schools was no different.  One of the schools that we have decided we wanted to introduce to you, is the chapter at Kent State University. Kent State University is located in Ohio, and their Her Campus chapter was founded in the Spring of 2014. Currently, their team is made up of 66 members, years freshman through senior, and they strive to be creative and express themselves through every opportunity they have.

The team is run by Campus Correspondents Shelby Rabideaux and Lexi Marco.  Shelby is the acting president and a senior digital Media production major. Lexi Marco, a senior public relations major, is both the Campus Correspondent and social media director. The chapter also would not run without Jess Goodwin, the acting editor-in-chief.  Jess is a junior Journalism major. Maria Serra, a junior journalism major minoring in human sexuality, is the chapter’s senior editor.

Moving into the marketing side of the team, HC Kent State has Camryn Hall and Brynna Sexton. Camryn, a junior fashion merchandising and fashion design double major, is the publicity and marketing director.  Brynna Sexton, a junior fashion merchandising major, is the social media assistant, working closely with Lexi to support the chapter’s social pages. HC Kent State also has an events team, with Maggie O’Neill, a junior fashion merchandising major, taking on the role of events director, and Linden Miller, a junior public relations major, as the chapter’s philanthropy and community events director.

Kent State’s team works extremely hard to produce content that their readers will love, and the feature pieces that the team highlighted as their favorite only exemplify their hard work.  Check out their favorite feature articles here and here! Not only do their features impress, but their profiles do as well.  You can read their top picks here and here! Looking for more content by Kent State?  Check out their Her Campus Page

HC Kent State’s chapter has also been extremely busy on the events front!  They have had a ton of events from The Bachelor watch parties for (which they are planning to continue if you are looking to attend) to apple picking and pumpkin painting.  The chapter also had a “Pure Romance” event that turned out really amazing! Not only that, but they also hold group exercise classes, photoshoots, and even girl boss speaker events. If you have the chance, make sure to stop by to check out what other cool things they have going on!

HC Kent State is really excited to grow their chapter this year, so if you are interested in running events, participating in events held by the chapter, or writing for them, definitely don’t hesitate to reach out.  You can always reach them on social media (Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and Pinterest), or email (hc.kentstate@hercampus.com). They also have a blast-off meeting at the beginning of every school year.  They set up a table and anyone can visit and sign up to join the chapter. Let them know what you want to do with the chapter, and they will be sure to find you a spot! They are looking forward to meeting and getting to know all of their new members and plan on doing theme weeks once a month, so keep your eyes peeled!  Not only that, but they are looking to do more team bonding and campus involvement this year, so there will be plenty of opportunities to get to know HC Kent State!

The HC Kent State chapter prides itself on self-expression, so it makes sense that one of their favorite team memories is their team photoshoots. They love how they are able to break barriers of awkwardness behind the camera, while being true to themselves and their team. Additionally, the chapter runs “Her Week,” where they celebrate the creation of their chapter!  Their favorite event from this week is “Her Party,” which I think speaks for itself! They also want to make sure that everyone knows that they have a lot of history and diversity at their school, and they embrace all of it!

When we asked, “What is one thing you want everyone to know about your chapter?” Kent State replied, “No matter what your major is or what your passions are, we would love to get to know you and have some fun together! Never feel intimidated, we want you to strive and become the amazing women you want to be. If you ever need anything, we are here for you!”  which I believe translates really well into the three words that Kent State used to describe their chapter. Kent State picked the words accepting, diverse, and fun because they will always welcome people with open arms and have a blast while doing so.

Bonus Questions:
