1.Clothing Rack

Let’s be real, the closet space given in dorm rooms just isn’t enough. You’re gonna have to buy some kind of storage for your clothes and an open clothing rack is the way to go! They look super sleek and trendy and are great for putting your most worn pieces on to get ready and out the door for class in minutes. Amazon and Target have racks for as cheap as $20!

2. Decorative Lights

Okay I’m pretty sure we’re all aware of the fairy lights trend by now but it’s still worth mentioning! I love having string lights above my bed for a cute pop of light and color on my white walls. Personally, I’m a fan of the decorative lights. These ones are $20 from Target and come in the shape of flowers for a more outdoorsy feel!

3. Light Box

This has to be one of my favorite pieces in my room. I had this last year and absolutely loved it! It’s a great decor piece that also serves as a light source! You can write whatever you want in it too so it’s super customizable and a conversation starter for when new friends come into your dorm! This light box was $10 from Walmart!

4. Wall Art/Collages

In my opinion, art collages are the easiest and most personal way to decorate your dorm room. Most of us have a small collection of some little mementos and posters that we could throw up on our wall so it’s basically free too! I chose to put up some show posters, postcards, album art, and drawings. Arrangement is key though! Be sure to lay out your pieces on the floor first and rearrange them to your liking!

5. Fake Plants

The most basic generation Z trend of them all: fake plants. Honestly, having some green in your room can really change up the feel of your space. Something about plants just makes a room more inviting and open feeling. My plant ball was $12 from TJ Maxx! Here’s something similar.
