Everyone’s favorite time of the semester is here…CLASS REGISTRATION! Since I will be graduating in a few short weeks, this is the first time in four years that I’m not stressing over having the perfect schedule or getting the best classes with the best professors. I may be stressing over finding a job and starting my career instead, but that’s a story for another day. I’ve taken all kinds of different classes during my time at ECU, so I thought I would share my two cents on what classes you should consider signing up for.

1. Personal Finance (FINA 1904)

This class will teach you pretty much everything you need to know about being an adult such as doing your own taxes, budgeting, buying a car, buying a house, getting insurance, debt, etc. It may sound boring but I promise you this will be one of the most useful classes you’ll take at ECU.

2. Introduction to Theater or Dance (THEA 1000/DNCE 1000)

If you’re looking for an interesting class that isn’t overly challenging, this is definitely for you. An added bonus of this class is that it gives you an excuse to attend some of the amazing plays and recitals that the School of Theater and Dance put on each semester!

3. Introduction to Sign Language Studies (ASLS 2020)

There aren’t many sections for this course, so it can be difficult to get into. However, I would highly recommending it if you can get it. You learn American Sign Language and get to interact with the Deaf community, which is super cool!

4. Public Speaking (COMM 2410)

The name of this class might terrify you, but it’s really not bad at all! It will seriously make such a huge difference in your confidence level and speech communication skills. 10/10 would recommend this class if you can get in it!

5. American Folklore (ENGL 3570)

If you’re in need of a writing intensive course but don’t want to take a typical English class, American Folklore is for you! It’s interesting and has a great professor.

So those are my suggestions on classes you should take. Good luck registering!
