How to Boss Being Single this Valentine’s Day

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Durham chapter.

It’s that time of the year again when you’re likely to feel lonelier than you would do on your own at the cinema without anyone to hold your popcorn. Yes, you know what I’m talking about. Valentine’s is a day where love is totally overrated and everyone goes and expresses their love as if it were the only day to do it. But let’s not complain too much as I am a habitual complainer. As a single lady, I would like to tell you how to rock this coming 14th February on your own…

There is nothing better than starting the day by getting up a bit late and having a real brunch just like one from Gossip Girl, comprised of everything you can think of (pancakes and waffles included of course, go big or go home they say).

Afterwards you should spend the day showing love to all of your friends by going for a great lunch or watching a marathon of romantic films in order to enjoy a bit of romance while you are single.

The only way to rock this Valentine’s is to be yourself and go mad if you want to. Go out and do the things you like even though there are couples around everywhere. It is just another day but people think it is the one day to give love. Rock it by giving love to your friends and family. Do things you like and enjoy all those half price chocolates at your local supermarket and, if you want to take it further, order flowers for yourself. Roses are half price this season! And why not go to the college formal with your gown and make another person fall for your great sense of humour or originality?
