Winter Welcome Week

After a six (almost seven!) week break, returning back to the construction-filled DU campus can feel like a page out of “Rip Van Wrinkle.” Adjusting back to the hustle-and-bustle of campus life can take a moment, so before you crack open Canvas, check out all of the activities DU has planned for Winter Welcome Week! #WiWeWee

 

Monday Jan 7: Polar Palooza w/ DUPB

Time: 4:00 PM-7:00 PM

Place: AAC Special Events Room (Rm 290)

DUPB has a multitude of fun activities planned including food trucks, plaque painting, candy buffets, cookie decorating, and hot cocoa and cider. Polar Palooza is only the precursor for DUPB’s legendary other winter activity, Winter Carnival, February 4th-10th.  

Tuesday Jan 8: Crazy Rich Asians Movie Night

Time: 7:00 PM

Place: Davis Auditorium (Sturm Hall Rm 248)

If you haven’t already seen one of the most beloved, record-breaking, and talked about movies of 2018, now is your chance. For free!

Wednesday Afternoon Jan 9: Involvement Expo

Time: 1:00 PM-4:00 PM

Place: AAC

Looking to join something new this quarter? The first ever Involvement Expo is serving as a mid-year Pio Carnival for all grade levels! So join that acapella group. Or that online magazine *cough cough* Her Campus DU!

Wednesday Evening Jan 9: Grocery Bingo

Time: 7:00 PM-10:00 PM

Place: AAC Special Events Room (Rm 290)

Grocery Bingo…so you don’t have to panic run to Safeway during Week 1.

Thursday Jan 10: Explore Denver presents Nuggets vs. Clippers

Time: 7:00 PM

Place: The Pepsi Center

Explore Denver’s free & discounted ticket series! It's kicking off with a Nuggets vs. Clippers game! 100 free tickets will start being distributed at Wednesday’s Involvement Expo, just bring your student ID and excitement! Tickets will also include a $10 voucher for concession snacks and non-alcoholic beverages. Music to every college students' ear!

Friday Afternoon Jan 11: Collegiate Recovery Community Grand Opening Celebration

Time: 3:00 PM-5:00 PM

Place: Collegiate Recovery Community (1931 S York St)

The Health and Counseling Center is opening the Collegiate Recovery Community (CRC)!

This new program will offer a community lounge, substance free social events, support meetings, peer mentoring, and educational seminars. According to the CRC website, “The CRC is a supportive environment within campus culture that reinforces the decision to pursue sobriety. It is designed to provide academic excellence alongside recovery support to ensure that students do not have to sacrifice one for the other.” Come celebrate this awesome new program at their grand opening!

Friday Evening Jan 11: Punch Line Drunk with Patrick Holbert​

Time: 7:00 PM

Place: Engineering & Computer Science Building Rm 510

Celebrate the end of Week 1 with some laughter and fun with comedian Patrick Holbert.
