A Review of Puppy Pawlooza

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Drexel chapter.

It’s the week before finals and the therapy dogs are back and cuddlier than ever. The Campus Activity Board (CAB) and Active Minds at Drexel University held the annual Puppy Pawlooza yesterday and the cuteness was off the charts. For those of you that are unaware, Puppy Pawlooza is the special time during fall term when therapy dogs come to the LeBow College of Business building and students can stop by and pet them. This year’s puppy invasion took place on Wednesday, December 2 from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. in Gerri C. LeBow Hall.

Therapy dogs must go through special training in order to be certified. It is their job to provide comfort and affection and to improve the lives of others—and might we say that they are excellent at what they do!

The pups were accompanied by a handler, who stood by for safety purposes and occasionally took the dogs on breaks. When you entered the event there were ten dogs scattered around the room with their handlers. You could then walk around from pup to pup and pet them until your heart’s content.

As usual, Puppy Pawlooza was a great success. The line wrapped around the entire second floor of LeBow!

In addition to the adorable dogs, there was calm and relaxing background music that really alleviated any stress you might have had over upcoming finals. The event is scheduled at the perfect time in the semester as it comes right before the anxiety of finals and the backlog of classwork. There is no better way to forget all of these college woes than to be surrounded by the cuteness of puppies. This is by far one of our favorite CAB events! We plan to attend Puppy Pawlooza every year and advise you to as well.

If you happen to be one of the sad souls that missed the overload of adorableness this year, fear not! You are in luck because Drexel has its own on-site therapy dog named Jersey and he is available in the DAC on Mondays and Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. If you don’t have time to stop by the DAC you can always stalk him on Facebook (I’ve done it for hours).

Huge thank you to Drexel’s CAB for such a fantastic event; we cannot wait for it to return next December!
