2018 is a brand new year, a chance to get rid of those unhealthy habits and start over. Here are some ways that you can kickstart a healthy lifestyle after the holidays!

Have Clear Goals

It’s important to have a clear purpose for any change you make in your life. Be honest with yourself as you figure out what you want to get out of a healthier lifestyle. Keep this close. When you’re struggling, this will be your motivation. When you’re succeeding, this will help you see your growth.

Track Yourself

Keep a journal, diary, notepad, reminder on your phone, anything! They will help you track your progress. It will also be a place where you can be honest about the things you are struggling with and make mini goals for how to overcome them. It should be a safe space for you.

Find Healthier Versions

We all love binge watching Netflix, eating more french fries than we should and of course refusing to give our bodies the rest it deserves. We can do all of these things…in healthier ways. Watch those shows while walking (at the slowest possible speed if you want )for a few minutes on the treadmill. Switch those french fries for baked sweet potato fries or zucchini chips. Take a powernap between study sessions.

Experiment

Don’t be afraid to try new things! Sometimes ditching our bad habits means stepping out of our comfort zone and into a space we haven’t ventured into before. Don’t be afraid! It’s all a part of the process.

Be Forgiving

This journey won’t be easy. It won’t happen overnight. It’s okay to mess up. It’s okay to give yourself as many cheat days as you need. It’s okay if you don’t reach your goal exactly when you envisioned yourself. You will get there. You will make it. You got this.
