While other people binge watch Netflix, lately I have spent much more time on Amazon Prime Video. I got my Prime membership for free delivery, of course, but I realized that Amazon has great TV shows too. All the ones that I randomly chose to watch have ended up being true favorites.

1. Marvelous Mrs. Maisel

I honestly found out about this one from ads on YouTube. The trailer got me very excited, but I was positively surprised that the series were even better! The story is set in 1950’s New York City and is about Miriam Maisel, a Jewish housewife that gets dumped by her husband and accidentally discovers her stand-up comedy talent. I think that even the idea of the story itself is fantastic. In addition, the soundtrack is amazing. This truly is a great story and I can’t wait for the second season! Marvelous Mrs. Maisel has won 2 Golden Globes and 5 Emmy Awards, and is rated 4.9/5 on Amazon.

2. Catastrophe

I also found out about this one from ads, and again – it turned out to exceed my expectations. The story starts by Rob from Boston, already in his forties, meeting an Irish woman Sharon in a bar in London during his business trip. They are having a great time before Rob has to go back. He soon returns to London to see Sharon again and finds out that she is pregnant. This is how they start their family. Starring two great comedians (who are also the writers of the show), Sharon Horgan and Rob Delaney, this show is funny and it’s about a family completely different from any that you have seen on TV before. Currently waiting for fourth season!

3. Mozart in the Jungle

This show is about Hailey Rutledge, an oboist whose dream is to play in New York Symphony and its new conductor Rodrigo De Souza. Before I started watching, I was skeptical of whether I will like series about classical music. I love this show! The music is wonderful, and it is definitely a change from your usual TV show soundtracks. The story is great as well, and I have fallen in love with the characters. This show has been filmed in several locations: New York City, Venice, Tokyo, and it’s beautiful. It focuses on women in music as Hailey goes on her journey on becoming a conductor. It also features several classical music artists appearing as themselves. Even though there are only 4 seasons and the show has been canceled, I recommend you see it. I’m sure you’ll love it too!

I have really been impressed by these three comedy shows by Amazon Video. I can’t wait to discover more of Amazon’s series because they seem to be great. Hopefully you’ll enjoy these as much as I did!
