Being Grateful 𑁋 A Step Towards Positivity

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Delhi North chapter.

At a time when everybody is lost in an unremitting rat race, catering to the expectations and standards set by the materialistic world can be extremely tiring and exhausting. While we try to match our steps with the high-paced world by performing relentlessly, securing deadlines, finalizing deals, we often forget to appreciate the little things like how our mothers can prepare meals for us without us even feeling thankful about it. Many people around the globe don’t have that privilege.

Being appreciative of our health, people who care for us, and the fresh air we breathe around us are some other things we can exercise our gratitude on. If you look at what you have in life, you will always have more. But if you look at what you don’t have in your life, you’ll never have enough! We all strive for greater things but in the process, we tend to lose ourselves. The megastar Rajnikant once famously quoted, “Whether you have a Maruti, auto or BMW the road remains the same whether you travel economy or business class your destination doesn’t change whether you have a Titan or a Rolex the time is the same. There is nothing wrong with dreaming of a luxurious life. What needs to be taken care of is not to let need become greed because your need can always be met but greed can never be fulfilled.”

There will always be a higher notch of possessions that will attract you to themselves. Be it a new car, a better house, a new technology, a new promotion, or a brand new bag. But in the whole process, one should be grateful to their surroundings and practice gratitude especially during these trying times, when we see the world crumbling down, people losing themselves, their livelihood, and loved ones.Β
Being grateful for what you have is one of the most positive approaches to living life. It is scientifically proven that practising gratitude can alleviate your mood and provide positive energy which can make you happier, healthier, and more settled. So, let’s spread some positivity in these negative times by acknowledging everything and everyone we have in our lives!
