The Corona Virus has gone viral in the past month with Amazon stopping shipping because of products from China, the death toll increasing all over the world, and the rapid spread throughout the U.S. especially in Seattle.  Although people say that millions of people die more from the flu, the coronavirus is not something to be taken lightly. According to the Worldometers, there are currently 105, 982 cases and 3,569 deaths as of right now. It is important to remember not to panic, but rather be preventative, and we are here to help!

The methods to help prevention are simple but are encouraged to be taken more seriously than they currently are. Here is a list of things to do to help prevent the virus from potentially getting you:

  1. Use a face mask one that is NOT from / made in China. And has N-95, which will resolve 95% of small test particles. This is more beneficial for the people that are infected or coughing to stop spreading the illness to others. If you are well and show no symptoms, it may not help unless you are traveling (Center for Devices and Radiological Health).

  2. Wash your hands for 20 seconds with soap by singing the alphabet or simply counting. It is important to do anything possible to get rid of germs (Center for Devices and Radiological Health).

  3. Avoid touching your nose, mouth, and face. All of the germs that your hands touch on different surfaces will all come to your face and can cause symptoms to arise (Center for Devices and Radiological Health).

  4. If someone is coughing or sneezing, move away from them. It is not more important to prioritize your health over a friendship (Center for Devices and Radiological Health).

  5. Clean all surfaces such as tabletops, electronics, desks, doorknobs, etc. with disinfectant wipes (Prevent Others from Getting Sick).

  6. Also do not share food, beddings, dishes, etc. And make sure to wash all of these thoroughly with the proper detergent and soap and water (Center for Devices and Radiological Health).

Despite the many memes and jokes the Internet has made about Corona, it is a virus without a cure. It is better to take precautions instead of arguing about the effects of whether something will work or not and possibly risking your life to catch Corona. Also, avoid traveling to major cities like Seattle, as well as international and limit domestic travel, that are at risk.
