Celebrating romantic love is great, but it is equally important to celebrate platonic love. This is why Galentine’s Day, celebrated the day before Valentine’s, exists (this and the TV show Parks and Recreation). There is a seemingly endless supply of advice for how to celebrate February 14th, but what can you do on the 13th?

Brunch and Personalized Gifts

Embrace your inner Leslie Knope and get together for brunch accompanied by personalized gift baskets. Potential goodies could be:

  • Hair accessories
  • Homemade chocolate covered strawberries
  • Hot chocolate bombs
  • Skincare
  • Stickers
  • Cozy socks
  • Bath bombs
Take a Class Together

For those interested in something other than brunch, a class is a great way to bond with your loved ones and pick up a skill. You could take a class in cooking, flower arranging, candle making, painting, or whatever else your town has to offer. You could even queue up a how-to video on YouTube and follow along from home.

Themed Mocktails and Charcuterie Boards

Each friend selects a movie, song, flower, season, or pretty much anything to base a fun drink and/or charcuterie board around. This way, you can enjoy some quality time in private with some great drinks and food.

Powerpoint night

Another night in option involved each friend making a PowerPoint centered around a theme (like a specific book or album) and describing which friend is who or what. This is a fun way to showcase your knowledge about your friends and how you perceive them.

Do something virtually

This is an option for those of us who have long-distance friendships. You can send flowers or a gift card for coffee, watch a movie simultaneously, or have a date over Zoom. You can get creative with this as there are plenty of ways to show our friends far away from us that we care.

Simply Tell Them How Much You Appreciate Them

We often get caught up trying to figure out how to convey our feelings. We may think it needs to be a grand, expensive gesture, but it really does not need to be.

Simply tell your friends how much you love and care for them. It is an inexpensive yet meaningful option. Express your feelings in person, over text, video-call, write a letter, or hire a plane to write it in the sky–just tell them!
