Five Tips for Motivating Yourself to Workout at Home

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at CU Boulder chapter.

Since the gyms have closed down, it has been much more difficult to find the motivation to workout. Here are some tips on how to be more motivated to workout at home!

Find a Comfortable Workout Space.

It’s important to be in a comfortable environment when you work out, so try to pick a space that is cleaner and does not have many distractions. If the weather allows, working out outside is also great!

Music is Key.

Whether you’re a fan of hip hop or classical, music can make or break a workout. Turn on some music that inspires you or makes you feel good about yourself because it will help you stay motivated throughout your workout!

Find a Workout Routine.

There are so many Instagram accounts, YouTube videos, and articles out there with different workout routines. If you’re like me and don’t like thinking about what to do next, these platforms are a great way to have some instruction and guidance for exercise. Also, watching videos of people exercise always motivates me to do the same!

Get A Fitness App.

Fitness apps are also a great way to get guidance on what types of exercises to do and many of them are free, which is awesome. There are so many different apps based on what type of exercise is your favorite and many of them require little to no equipment. Two of my favorite apps are Workout for Women and Daily Workouts Fitness Trainer!

Get a Family Member to Workout With You.

Working out with a family member is not only fun, but also motivating because they could have some workout ideas that you had never thought of. Furthermore, there are lots of partner exercises that you could try!

I hope those tips help! Above all, it is important to listen to your body and do what is best for you in the moment. It’s not about the calories burned or how sweaty you are, but how you feel after the workout. I hope everybody is staying safe and healthy during these times of uncertainty!
