The Stages of a Surprise Seasonal Allergy Attack

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Columbia Barnard chapter.

1. You’re living your life with some success.

2. Until suddenly you wake up, and your throat hurts.

3. You try to deny that this is a big deal – maybe you slept with your mouth open!

4. So you drink a lot of water and tea.

5. It doesn’t help.

6. Soon, you develop a cough,

7. You sneeze a lot,

8. And your nose starts running.

9. Every time you look in the mirror, you see a red-nosed, red-eyed, mucus mess.

10. You take a lot of Claritin,

11. And you monitor the pollen count, waiting for it to break.

12. Eventually, you start to move into better allergy conditions.

13. One day, you feel less horrible when you wake up.

14. Soon, you forget you even had allergies in the first place!

15. But that surprise allergy attack is always lurking.
