5 ASMR Videos to Watch This Halloween (Even If It Isn’t Your Thing)

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Columbia Barnard chapter.

I have to admit, as a big ASMR fan, it was a real treat to simply research some fall and Halloween-related ASMR videos and write all about them. Now, of course, ASMR is surely not for everyone, but I’ve found it has really helped me overcome anxiety and insomnia time and time again. Even for those who wouldn’t consider themselves die-hard ASMR listeners, there is certainly material out there that can provide a great background addition to studying, decorating your room for fall, or fostering that Halloween spirit. To get a better sense of this, here are five Halloween ASMR videos you can listen to no matter where you stand on the ASMR spectrum.

Phasmophobia ASMR (FrivolousFox ASMR feat. SlightSounds)

This video is for all you gamers out there, though as someone who doesn’t spend time watching a lot of gameplays (especially horror gameplays), I found this to be really relaxing and actually pretty funny to watch. Phasmophobia is a relatively new ghost-hunting game that has seen a steady emergence of interest from players all over the world, along with a growing amount of live streams on Twitch and YouTube. This collaboration video from FrivolousFox ASMR (aka Lauren aka my favorite ASMRtist) and SlightSounds is a whispered journey in their endeavors to find and identify different types of ghosts in different houses based on evidence they gather and analyze together. It isn’t a super terrifying venture at all, but if you want a new source for a little suspense and laughs this Halloween (or even a new video game to try), I definitely recommend checking this video out!

Cozy Fall Coffee Shop Ambience (Calmed By Nature)

For those of you who don’t have a huge affinity for the ASMR scene, this video may be right up your alley. My mom and I found this video first out of many on the YouTube app on our Roku TV, and it provides the best background music and coziness to prepare for a nice fall evening. It’s also eight hours long, so it is a great suggestion if you want to have something on for a whole evening of festivities or plan on doing a full-on, in-depth study session. Calmed By Nature also has a ton of amazing cozy fall coffee shop videos to sift through on your downtime, so you can really find what makes you happy (almost like finding your niche coffee spot!). So make your favorite hot cup of coffee/cider/hot cocoa, grab your favorite fall throw blanket, and cozy up to the sound of jazz music and falling rain on a nice fall evening in your favorite coffee hangout.

Slightly Hypnotic ASMR (FrivolousFox ASMR)

That’s right — FrivolousFox ASMR is back on the list with another video. For those of you who are more like me and have a pretty steady interest in ASMR, this video has got a great capacity for all the ~tingles~ everyone talks about. What makes this a really great Halloween video is her Halloween acrylic nails and her fall candles giving an ambient spooky glow in the background. The mic settings also have an echo effect to them, so they are sensitive to any slight sound she makes and create a hypnotic sensation, which is really great when you’re trying to fall asleep at night. It’s my favorite to help me ground myself and calm my anxiety from time to time, but I love to put it on before bed at night because it’s that great at helping me with my long-running insomnia too. If you’re willing to branch out and get a feel for those hypnotic tingles, this is the one for you!

ASMR Sweater Collection (Goodnight Moon ASMR)

Goodnight Moon ASMR (aka Erin) is also a huge favorite ASMRtist of mine. For those of you who absolutely love “sweata weatha,” this is a great opportunity to check out some of the cute sweaters Erin has in her collection while getting some of your own inspiration for new sweaters to buy this season. She includes a few other cute Halloween-themed accessories in her video which make for great complements to any fall outfit. Choosing only one of Goodnight Moon’s videos was actually pretty tough considering she (and the other artists!) have really great Halloween-themed videos. Some honorable mentions from her channel include her ASMR Autumnal Tingles with Candy Corn Acrylics video, or her ASMR Spend the Day with Me video which features a trip to a vintage store with great Halloween decor and a (socially-distanced) pumpkin patch for those of you who are new to the ASMR scene!

ASMR Putting Makeup on Morticia Addams (Lynn Cinnamon ASMR)

For the final suggestion on this list, Lynn Cinnamon ASMR appeals to makeup lovers of all kinds with a spooky look on a few printouts of Halloween queen Morticia Addams. Lynn Cinnamon is one of my favorite ASMRtists because she has a knack for using vintage and quirky makeup in most of her videos, especially with one of the leaders in vintage-style makeup, Bésame Cosmetics. This is great for anyone who loves to have fun with makeup and find new beauty-related content, whether or not ASMR is your thing. She’s also a great reference for other Halloween-themed ASMR videos, like her ASMR Halloween Decor video or even her Crime-Themed Makeup ASMR video. For anyone with a real passion behind new and interesting makeup products, or really anyone with a quirky sense of taste when it comes to Halloween, Lynn Cinnamon ASMR is your go-to!

Whether or not you become or are a huge ASMR connoisseur, I hope this list inspires you to try something new this Halloween, especially since we’ll all probably need a substitute for trick-or-treating this Halloween season. Have fun!
