Congratulations on reaching Thanksgiving break! After a semester filled with non-stop activities, we’ve all earned this well-deserved vacation. Now is the perfect opportunity to unwind, recharge, and prioritize some quality time for yourself before the semester’s end and the impending finals. Here are a few activities to do over break so you can make the most of the upcoming week!

  1. R&R

At the top of almost everyone’s to-do list is to take a break and relax from the hectic pace of the semester. A week dedicated to catching up on sleep and recommitting to self-care is truly rejuvenating. Make sure to take a few days to unwind in front of the TV or with a good book so you can feel a little more like yourself again.

  1. Spend time with friends and family

Thanksgiving break is also a great time to spend time with family and reconnect with old friends from home. Set up a game night, cook a few pies, or do outside activities with those you love. There’s truly nothing more fulfilling than sharing time with those who care about you. A super fun activity to do is to watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and rank all the floats!

  1. Get ahead on homework

I know that I’ll be slammed with work the second I get back on campus, so I’m planning to dedicate a few days to getting some of my work out of the way. Whether it’s outlining an upcoming essay or crafting a study plan for finals, taking proactive steps now ensures a less stressful post-vacation return.  Don’t spend too much time studying, though, because this break is meant to be relaxing!

  1. Give back to your community

Thanksgiving is all about giving thanks to those who love and support you. This week presents a wonderful chance to give back by getting involved in your community. Simple acts such as contributing to a food drive or volunteering at a local soup kitchen can make a meaningful impact and foster a sense of connection with the community.

  1. Prep for christmas/the holiday season

As Thanksgiving approaches, the festive spirit of Christmas and the holiday season is just within reach. I’ve seen holiday advertisements everywhere, and it’s almost time for the Christmas music to come on the radio. Put up decorations around your house to get into that holiday cheer, and shop for festive decorations for your dorm room to give yourself motivation during finals week!

These are a few activities I know I’ll be doing this Thanksgiving break, and I hope you’ll be able to do them too!
