Three Ways to Stay Organized During Midterms

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Colby chapter.

Midterms are slowly approaching (already… can you believe it?), which means work is about to pile up, lots of coffee is about to be consumed, our planners are about to overflow, and our rooms are about to become too messy to handle. We’ve all been there, but here are some ways to stay even just a little bit more organized during these next few weeks of craziness.

1. Make to-do lists. When the work starts getting crazy and you don’t have enough room in your planner to write it all down, start making to-do lists either on your computer or on paper. Use an app like Clear to stay as organized as possible; Clear even lets you make multiple to-do lists! However, there is something extremely satisfying about crossing something off on a piece of paper.

2. Keep your room clean. Even though it can be super annoying to wash dishes, fold laundry, and make your bed, it’s so nice to come home after a late night in Miller to a clean room. So, instead of just throwing your sweater onto the nearest surface, take a second to fold it and put it away. It’ll take much less time to put things away each time you use them, rather than leaving them out and eventually not being able to see the floor.

3. Use a calendar. Most Colby kids are extremely busy in addition to classwork, which means meetings and club events and tabling in the Spa. To keep track of all of your committments, write down everything on a calendar, whether it’s on your computer or on your wall.

Hopefully, these tips will help keep you a bit more sane organized during midterms. Good luck, and may the odds be ever in your favor!
