There are tons of ways to keep busy and keep your mind off of everything going on in the world right now. Below are some of my personal favorites because life is chaotic and we all need help slowing down sometimes.

If you don’t feel comfortable leaving your house:

Game nights

Puzzles, word games, and coloring are amazing time killers and perfect for spending quality time with friends and family. You can make it into an ongoing competition. Each night play a different game and at the end of the competition, come up with a prize for the winner.

Movie nights

Make it a nightly ritual, pick a few movies that are new and a few that are from your childhood and watch a different movie each night.

Tie children’s books into meals

Read Green Eggs and Ham before dinner and cook up some green breakfast for dinner. It will lighten the mood and remind everyone of how great it was to be young. Maybe find another children’s book that you can tie into food. If you have young kids in your family, let them pick the book and have them help you read it to the rest of the family.

Try something new:

If you want to get into knitting, what better time to try it than now?

This is the time for new hobbies. When you are trapped in your house, the best way to keep sane is to keep occupied. Busying yourself with learning a new hobby is the best way to practice self-care and keep your mind stimulated.

Learn a new language

You may not be able to go on your trip to Italy, France, or Mexico, but you can brush up on your Italian, French, or Spanish.

It’s still self-isolating if you:

    Go to a nature preserve

    Go on a hike

    Go for a drive

Take a walk around your neighborhood

Literally doing anything where you are not interacting with other people

Get creative, have fun, and practice mindfulness :)
