What do you love the most about CNU? “There’s so many things to love! I especially love the small class sizes. In my English class last semester, there were only 17 students total, and it made it so much easier to participate in class and get to know people.”

What’s one personal goal you have for yourself this year? “My goal is to drink more water! There are so many benefits to drinking water – aside from the fact that we need it to survive.”

Where do you like to spend time when you’re not in class? “Outside of class, if I’m not studying in the library, I’m probably in bed taking a nap. I have never appreciated naps as much as I do in college. I don’t know how I would function properly without them… it’s a little sad.”

What has been the best part of being a member of HC CNU so far? “Being able to write about things that truly interest me, as well as reading what my teammates have written.”

If you could be any superhero in the world, who would it be and why? “Supergirl! I’ve recently started watching CW’s Supergirl series, and I’m loving it. She’s a great person all around and truly cares about the wellbeing of people in her city.”

If you could go anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why? “I would go to Bora Bora and stay in an overwater bungalow! I love warm weather and the beach, and, really, who wouldn’t want to be in one of those awesome bungalows?”

Favorite song on your Spotify right now? “Being a HUGE music lover, I have so many favorites… this is a difficult question! I’m gonna have to say What’s It Gonna Be? by Shura. It’s got a really catchy beat and always puts me in a better mood. (The music video is super cute, by the way)”

Favorite nail polish shade? “I actually rarely paint my nails, but when I do, I like to use pastel colors – usually a soft blue.”

Do you have any pets? If so, tell us about them! “I have a 4 year old pitbull named Roy! My family and I adopted him from the SPCA about a year ago. He is such a sweet dog and loves cuddles. Roy is pretty photogenic – after all, he is adorable!”

What are your goals for next semester? “One goal is to stick to a workout schedule. Last semester, I went to the gym every day for the first month – and was really proud of myself – but as I got busier later into the year, my workout schedule no longer really existed. I’m really going to try to make it work this semester. Another goal I have for myself is to say ‘yes’ to more things. Saying yes can lead to new adventures and experiences, which I really value!”

You can categorize Royall as either Leslie Knope when she has her color-coded binders: or Hyde whenever Jackie comes into a room before they start dating: There is no in-between.  Royall recently graduated with her B.A. in Sociology & Anthropology from CNU and now studies Government & International Relations at Regent University. She also serves as the Victim Advocate and Community Outreach Coordinator for Isle of Wight Co., VA in Victim Witness Services. Within Her Campus, she served as a Chapter Writer for CNU for one year, a Campus Expansion Assistant for a semester, Campus Correspondent for two years, and is in the middle of her second semester as a Chapter Advisor.  You can find her in the corner of a subway-tiled coffee shop somewhere, investigating identity experiences of members of Black Greek Letter Organizations at Primarily White Institutions as well as public perceptions of migrants and refugees. Or fantasizing about ziplining arcoss the French Alps.
Campus Correspondent of Her Campus at Christopher Newport University.
