Hi all!

This October has been way busier than last year’s. From Mid-terms to being constantly sick for three weeks (yay asthma and allergies!) I have been stressed beyond belief. And I know I’m not the only one — my entire team has been battling strep, ear infections, bronchitis… and pain of a heavy course load.

Despite all of that, we’ve had some major breakthroughs – we started our New Member Profile Series, where we’re going to be highlighting all of our new members to give them to opportunity to let the entire CNU community — and the world know — that they’re here to take it by storm! We had our first Snapchat Giveaway of the year, thanks to our awesome Snapchat Admin Olivia Forry, and we had our first fundraiser: our Fall Semester Change Wars in which four CNU Captains competed to raise the most money in their jar! We created an awesome t-shirt design that is open for all of our readers and team members and their families to purchase, and we’ve gotten started on planning our Live and Silent Auction.. More info on that to come soon!

On this past Friday, we had our first ever Team Bonding event! Around twelve of us were able to meet at Panera by campus and spend a couple of hours chatting, getting to know each other — and laughing more than I ever have in my life! I can’t wait for us to do more activities together…

Like how we’re going to be participating in She’s the First’s #BakeAChange event! We’re going to be making a BUNCH of cupcakes on Monday night, then selling them for donations on Tuesday from 10:30 – 3 in the DSU Atrium! We’re so excited to raise funds for this organization that has worked to get scholarships for the young women of underperforming countries to be the first in their families to graduate high school! While our goal is to raise $100, we would LOVE to make over $400 so that we can get to correspond with one of She’s the First’s scholars!

I am so ready for Thanksgiving Break… The next weeks are going to be even more hectic than the ones I just experienced, but I know that with my amazing, hard-working team by my side that everything will be okay.

Stay classy, Captains!

You can categorize Royall as either Leslie Knope when she has her color-coded binders: or Hyde whenever Jackie comes into a room before they start dating: There is no in-between.  Royall recently graduated with her B.A. in Sociology & Anthropology from CNU and now studies Government & International Relations at Regent University. She also serves as the Victim Advocate and Community Outreach Coordinator for Isle of Wight Co., VA in Victim Witness Services. Within Her Campus, she served as a Chapter Writer for CNU for one year, a Campus Expansion Assistant for a semester, Campus Correspondent for two years, and is in the middle of her second semester as a Chapter Advisor.  You can find her in the corner of a subway-tiled coffee shop somewhere, investigating identity experiences of members of Black Greek Letter Organizations at Primarily White Institutions as well as public perceptions of migrants and refugees. Or fantasizing about ziplining arcoss the French Alps.
