If your schedule has been crazy this semester, like mine, you’ll know that break is the perfect chance to take a step back. Half of my plans for this holiday season involve staying on the couch and wrapping up in a blanket. I’ve learned through my years at Clemson that one of the best things you can do over break is to rest. Here are some of my favorite things to do during Thanksgiving break.

No. One
Get some sleep! I know, shocker that this is on the list. But, seriously, get some rest. If you’re anything like me, your sleep schedule has been slowly declining. I don’t know if I’ve made it to sleep before 2 a.m. for the past two weeks. Thanksgiving break is the perfect chance to rehab your sleep schedule. So, take the time to rest up while you can. With finals approaching, you’re going to need it.

No. Two
Spend some time by yourself. And no, sleeping doesn’t count. At college, you are almost constantly surrounded by people. It’s great, but it can sometimes be overwhelming. It’s important that you take some time to just be alone. Watch a movie, read a book, do anything. Just make sure to spend quality time with yourself. It’s rare to get a moment alone in college, so take advantage of your break.

No. Three
Eat some well-rounded meals. You know as well as I do that the dining scene at college is something. Whether you have a meal plan or are scrounging up food on your own time, the options can be limited. While you’re at home and have access to your parents’ groceries, make sure to get some nutrition. A home-cooked meal goes a long way when you’ve been living off of caffeine and ramen.

Over break, it’s important that you prioritize self-care. The holidays are a time for family, but this is also your break from college. With this in mind, I wish you a wonderful Thanksgiving break. Please take care of yourself, and have a great Thanksgiving!
