Best Sites to Search for Internships in Massachusetts

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Clark chapter.

Spring has finally arrived which means that summer is just around the corner! If you’re still trying to figure out what to do this summer, getting an internship or job is probably at the top of your list. Sometimes it can be hard to know where to look for internship postings, especially ones located in a certain area. If you’re looking to stick around the Worcester area for the summer or live nearby, the following few sites are the best places to look for internships specifically located in Massachusetts.

1. Intern Hub – According to their website, “Intern Hub is a free portal for students, employers, and career counselors throughout Massachusetts.” This site is a great resource for college students as it features an interactive job board and allows employers to search for students, which can lead to internship opportunities you may have never even considered. It’s easy to create an account and the site allows you to upload your own résumé as well as fill one out using their online tool.

2. Hire Culture – This site maintains job postings for creative organizations in Massachusetts. While that may seem limiting, the jobs available can range anywhere from a human resources intern at a museum to a marketing and public relations intern at a theater, and lots in between. Even if you have never considered looking for a position in a creative organization, check out what is available on Hire Culture and you might be surprised at what you find.

3. Clark Recruiter – The LEEP Center Clark Recruiter is actually a really awesome tool to use in searching for internships. It allows you to fill out very specific details about yourself and the locations you are searching for an internship in. It even breaks up Massachusetts into seven different areas including: Worcester Area, Boston/Metro West, North Shore, South Shore, Western, North Central and Southeastern. You can also use the “events” tab to find out about internship fairs, career fairs and more.

Beyond these sites, there are many other generic internship search engines that you can use as well including: Indeed.com, Monster.com and LinkedIn.com. If there is a certain company that you would like to intern for, check out their website directly as many places have an actual internship page right on their main site. If you don’t see any posted, it’s always worth it to call someone in human resources at the company to see if they would be interested in taking on an intern. Sometimes the answer will be “no,” but oftentimes it will work out in your favor and you will have shown the company that you are ambitious and dedicated.

While hunting for internships can be a difficult and tiring process, hopefully using these tools will eliminate some of the stress and help you land your dream job. Good luck, collegiettes!
