A Relection: The Last Semester of College Edition

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Cincinnati chapter.

Well, this is it, this is the end. The past 3 ½ years have been some of the most fun, stressful, aggravating and most of all, the biggest learning experience of my life and it is all wrapping up to an end. I am absolutely terrified. I don’t feel adequate to be a fully fledged, functioning adult. I still feel like I need my mom to help me figure out what to eat for dinner. I can’t cook, barely do laundry, don’t know anything about taxes, bills, and more.

How will I survive?!

Easy. By f*cking up my life so much this semester I stop stressing for once in my life, and enjoy the beauty of college while I am still here. As a glorified 21-year-old grandma, I have committed to spending my last semester of college doing things I have never ever imagined doing; including actually graduating college. I will not spend every night–including the weekends–huddled up in my room, watching reruns of The Office.

I will go out. I will socialize. I will be the person I have always wanted to be: The carefree woman who goes out, is adventurous, has fun, but still gets sh*t done.

And here is a list of things I hope to do before this Disney World-like experience comes to an end:

  1. Go out EVERY night of the week one whole week (yes, including Monday).

  2. Meet a new person, and have a genuine conversation with them.

  3. Go to every local Clifton bar in one night (I haven’t been to Woody’s since the dinosaurs roamed).

  4. Pull a non-academic all-nighter.

  5. Follow a recipe.

  6. Connect with my professors–because they are cool AF.

  7. Write an article that scares me.

  8. Buy a shot of the most expensive liquor at the bar.

  9. Go to the Rec by myself.

  10. Try every restaurant in OTR.

  11. Explore Cincinnati–I have lived here forever, and have hardly ever been downtown.

  12. Be more aggressive with my beliefs and what I want out of life.

  13. Plan to go to any event–and commit to it. No backing out!

  14. Take a snow day, and run around in it. Go sledding, snowball fight, hiking, and more.

  15. Go on a spontaneous road trip.

  16. Say “yes” 75% of the time to invites (No I am not talking to you @sketchy male species.)

  17. Apply to as many jobs as possible, even if they seem out of reach.

  18. Ask more questions; don’t hide or stay quiet when I have something to say.

  19. Do one thing that I thought I would never do.

  20. Listen to my mom when she gives me advice.

  21. Sing at Karaoke night.

  22. Learn a useful skill to improve myself.

  23. Go on a Bar Crawl.

  24. Wear that cropped top, dress, and heels to the bars; look good, feel good. From the genius mind of Cardi B, “Hoes never get cold.”

  25. Be a Boss A** B*tch and own this sh*t.

Most of you ladies probably do these on the regular, but as a self-proclaimed Grandma, I will devote my last semester to being the biggest mess with no regrets because I have the best excuse; it’s the last semester of college.
