The time of year has come once again for new seasonal goodies. As finals dwindle down and the weather gets warmer, it is time to do some major summer preparation. With that being said, we at Her Campus CAU, are ready to give you all the details on some products to experiment with. Each season our lovely Her Campus HQ sends our chapter survival kits that we get to share our opinions on with you all. This most recent kit carries a bright and airy aesthetic, with summer essentials you will not want to miss out on.

First we’ll start with hair products. Summer hair styling and hair care typically revolves around quick and easy protective styles as your are usually on the go. We got sent in two products from Bed Head hair care to aid us and you with simple one-step products. They serve to assist us in everyday hair care and simplicity within summer styles.

  1. Bed Head TIGI Beach Me Wave Defining Gel Mist

This adorable bottle smells like a sweet summer day. It is in place to provide you with the perfect beachy waves, every day. While I do love the concept of the product as well as the fragrance, I was not a fan of the results. I have a cross between 2B and 2C type hair, so wave definition is critical to my everyday lok. What I noticed about this product in comparison to my everyday products is that it left my hair feeling rough. I did achieve wave definition as promised but the texture was not personally to my liking. However, the point is to have beachy waves, thus meaning textured. While this mist was not preferable to me, it did it’s job. I think anyone in the 2A-3A range would appreciate its definition.

     2. Bed Head TIGI Matte Dry Shampoo

If there is one thing I depend on in the summer it is dry shampoo. As an oily girl (both hair & skin) I appreciate any product that can keep my excess oils in line. This dry shampoo smells like summer, very fruity and tropical, just as the gel mist. It also is matte meaning it will not leave a shiny finish after absorbing the oils. Upon trying this product I have absolutely no complaints. I see myself using it when I need a quick hair blot or when I can not get to a wash and go.

Now we’ll get into this skin care honey. One of the biggest makeup trends as of late has been the no makeup makeup look also known as the my skin but better approach. Now that minimal makeup is a thing, it is time to really concentrate on proper skincare, if you have not been already. One of the best ways to do so is to establish a weekly facemask into your routine. Facemask target any skin concerns you may have. They are also super relaxing and fun, giving you a chance for some me time, and self-care. The two Freeman masks we tried out were aimed at skin purification, renewal, and radiance.

  1. Freeman Sweet Tea + Lemon Mask

This peel off mask in particular is for normal to combination skin. It is in place to “instantly remove impurities and tones for radiant skin”. This is a perfect summertime mask because it aims to calm problem areas through toning. This then results in a polished skin look, ready for your no makeup makeup looks, and even your #NoMakeup #NoFilter days.

   2. Freeman Charcoal + Black Sugar Mask

This mask is one of my favorites of all time.   It aims to “instantly remove impurities + nourishes for renewed skin” and it does just that. The ten-minute long process of keeping the mask on allows the purifying properties in charcoal to attack large pores and incoming or current acne.

  3. Plump Up The Volume

In addition to skincare products we also received a plumping lip polish (gloss) from Buxom. The shade is supernatural making it summer friendly to all complexions. It is a gloss that will provide you with a little tingle. But don’t worry because that’s what it’s supposed to do. It contains ingredients to temporarily enhance your lip size, thus complementing the look. I like the look it provides and the convenience of the size. It is definitely a summer go to.

In continuation with skin care, Schick and Skintimate provided us with shaving products. As summer comes around, a majority of us appreciate a smooth, clean shave. The combination of the Schick Quattro You razors and the Skintimate 2 in 1 shaving cream/conditioner does just that. The Schick razors provide a soft but close shave while the skintimate cream nourishes any area you may shave.

As summer goes on you may find yourself needing miscellaneous tools while your on the go. Some things you could never go wrong with is a cute pouch to hold items like makeup, pens, keys, etc. The Her Campus Shop has plenty for sale, in convenient summer colors that will compliment any bag. Visit the HCXO Shop, here to get these super affordable and convenient pouches, with THE BEST summer sayings.

Lastly, in the midst of hair care, skin care, and cute pouches-you may just need some Krazy Glue on deck. I personally use these mini krazy glues for DIYs which are perfect to take on over the summer as you have more free time on your hands. I also use krazy glue for minor outfit malfunctions with accessories and shoes. Krazy Glue is more of a convenience item than many may think, while you get a hold of that pencil pouch, cop a cute mini krazy glue to use with you get into those not so sticky situations.

With that all being said and done, enjoy your summer, you deserve it. If you have a chance to try out new products or need that Her Campus stamp of approval, you got one here!
