Taylor Swift “Midnights”: What We Know So Far And What To Expect

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Casper Libero chapter.

Let’s see all we already know about TayTay’s newest album which comes out on October 21st!

Taylor Swift announced her new album, “Midnights”, at the VMAs, during her acceptance speech for the “Video of the Year” award for “All Too Well (10 Minute Version)” on August 28th. The next day, she posted the information on her social media.

In her posts, she mentions the record as a gathering of 13 stories about “sleepless nights scattered throughout my life”, followed by a “meet me at midnight”. The songs will show the sincereness of a “journey through terrors and sweet dreams. The floors we pace and the demons we face”.

According to the British tabloid The Sun, this will be the most experimental work of Swift, and she will give a new view on her relationship with the actor Joe Alwyn.

The songwriter and singer haven’t revealed the tracklist yet, but there will be a Side A, with six tracks, and a Side B, with seven.

Alternative album covers

Taylor Swift announced there will be alternative album covers, with different colors and pictures of her.

The Lavender Edition will be sold exclusively at Target and includes three bonus tracks, according to Billboard.

Swift has many songs about nights

While October 21st doesn’t arrive, all Swifties can do is listen to the previous songs Taylor Swift has sung about the nights and, maybe, get a hint of what is about to come! To help you, here are 5 of those songs!

“Breathe”, from Fearless

“It’s 2 a.m., feeling like I just lost a friend / Hope you know it’s not easy, easy on me”

“Enchanted”, from Speak Now

“The lingering question kept me up / 2 a.m., who do you love? / I wonder ‘til I’m wide awake”

“All Too Well”, from Red

“Cause there we are again in the middle of the night / We’re dancing ‘round the kitchen in the refrigerator light”

“Hoax”, from Folklore

“My sleepless night / My winless fight / This has frozen my ground”

“I Bet You Think About Me”, from Red (Taylor’s Version)

3 a.m. and I’m still awake, I’ll bet you’re just fine / Fast asleep in your city that’s better than mine”
