For all the fans of breathtaking plots full of emotions and twists, April 3th was surely a binge watching day. After almost one year of waiting, the fourth part of the spanish TV series La Casa de PapelMoney Heist, in the english version – was finally released! In 8 episodes, the story of the Professor (Álvaro Morte) and all the skilled members of the Dali’s gang continues.  Still connecting past and present, it shows flashbacks of Berlín (Pedro Alonso) by the time of the idealization of the plan.

(If you haven´t watched it yet, prepare for spoilers!)

The season already starts with complications for everyone, inside and out of the bank. The Professor is still unstable and emotive due to the capture of Lisbon (Itziar Ituño) and her apparent murder. Among the group of robbers, Nairóbi (Alba Flores) left the last season on the verge of death, after being shot by order of the relentless Inspector Alicia Sierra (Najwa Nimri), and needed to go through an urgent and risky surgery. The character starred by Miguel Herrán, Rio, is clearly fragilized and still traumatized by the physical and psychological tortures committed against him during the time he spent with Sierra, and that leads to some discussions with Denver (Jaime Lorente).

It’s noticed that, even with all the cleverness and focused mind of the Professor, the first episode is marked by more problems than victories. The rhythm of the story is less intense, probably because some measures needed to be taken in order to establish the control over the plan again. That’s when Marseille (Luka Peros) conquer an important role as a sidekick, with advices and punches in order to keep the Professor thinking straight. We also discover the identity of Julia/Manilla, who turns out to be an unfiltered allie among the hostages, as well as Denver’s cousin.

In this context of instability, Palermo (Rodrigo de La Serna) is… well, still being Palermo: a loyal leader to the plan, but not so much to the group. After losing the position of leader, he is the main responsible for leading to freedom the security guard Gandía, the biggest enemy and threat to the heist in this season. Gandía shows a killer mind, without any mercy for the robbers or honesty in his words. This behavior is materialized in a bullet shot directly at Nairóbi’s head. In this plot no one is spared, and her death is a heavy reminder of that.

If, in one hand, Gandía represents this heartless kind of person, on the other, this season was great for developing even more of the human side of the rest of the characters. Palermo turns to have had a platonic love for Berlin in the past, as shown in some flashbacks. Tokyo (Úrsula Corberó) is showing a less impulsive way to handle things and has become more mature after breaking up with Rio. Alicia Sierra, one of the most hated characters in season 3, keeps a sad story about her husband’s death, after all. The public can see all these faces that each personality holds, and this is probably the most important thing managed in these 8 episodes.

Even though this season has answered a lot of points left opened in Part 3 and ended bringing hope again to the heist, it has also left questions for a dreamed Part 5. What will happen to the Professor? What’s the destiny of Inspector Sierra? Why does the group needs to melt all the gold in order to escape the bank and how exactly they’re going to successfully leave the place? We still have lots of doubts but, surely, one thing is clear: it’s worthy to watch it and we can’t wait to hear Bella Ciao again soon!
